Leucopaxillus albissimus

Posted by John 12/21/13

John: These were pretty small, 3-4 inches across. I was surprised to find them on the first day of winter. No ring. Does anyone want to hazard a guess of what they might be? Thanks

Sava: I'd say Leucopaxillus albissimus, but this red staining is unfamilia

Note from Wikipedia: " large white fruiting body that is unusually resistant to decay. It is not considered to be edible"
