Clitocybe nebularis (Maybe)

John:Any ideas?

Judy:Smell it! It looks like it could be Clitocybe nebularis, which has a somewhat skunky odor, esp. when it gets a bit warm. The large size, the clavate stem and decurrent gills point in that direction.

But if no odor, and a bit tough and fibrous, then it could be a Leucopaxillus, as they are often large with slightly decurrent gills. The only other way to tell for sure is to check the spores with Melzers or Lugol's solutions.
